Tulip Season 2026: Where to See the Most Stunning Tulip Fields in Holland
There’s something truly magical about tulip season in Holland. One moment, the landscape is a patchwork of green fields, and then almost overnight it bursts into a dazzling sea of colour. If you’ve ever dreamed of strolling through endless rows of vibrant tulips, taking in the fresh spring air, and experiencing the true essence of Dutch culture, 2026 is your year to do it!
Tulip season in The Netherlands is by far one of my favourite seasons and it being almost 4 years since living in The Netherlands I have been able to explore almost all of the top spots. While many visitors stick to Amsterdam and Keukenhof, there’s so much more to discover if you’re willing to venture a little further. From hidden tulip farms to breathtaking cycling routes through fields of colour, I’m here to guide you through the most beautiful tulip spots in the Netherlands and highlight some of the lesser known spots.
So grab your camera (you’re going to need it) and lets dive into it.
When Is the Best Time to See Tulips?
Although you can find tulips in Dutch flower shops all year round, nothing compares to seeing them bloom in the fields. Tulip season runs from mid-March to early May in Holland but if you want to catch them in their full, vibrant glory, aim for mid April.
Timing is everything! If you visit too early, the tulips might not be fully open. Too late, and you might find fields with their flower heads cut off (farmers do this to help the bulbs grow stronger). My personal advice? Plan your trip between April 10th- 25th for the best experience. Do note though that with climate change at the moment each year is diffrent so I would recommend keeping an eye out on when the tulips are in bloom for 2026.
How to Get to the Tulip Fields
Since the best tulip fields are scattered throughout the Dutch countryside, transportation is key. Luckily, getting around Holland is pretty easy!
Public Transport: Trains and buses in the Netherlands are reliable and luckily can take you to almost everywhere in the country so getting to the tulip hotspots is easy.
Guided Tours: If you’d rather not worry about trains or driving then there are plenty of tulip themed bus, bike, and even helicopter tours.
Bike Rentals: This is one my favourite ways to explore the dutch countryside! Renting a bike and cycling through the fields gives you total freedom and lets you soak in the scenery at your own pace.
Car Rentals: If you want to chase the tulip fields on your own schedule, renting a car is a great option and can help you reach those spots that may be further out.
